Inappropriate use of a vehicle may result in disciplinary actions, as deemed <br />necessary by the Department Director, through the normal disciplinary process. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Vehicie assignments-daily and/or take-home are authorized based on the requirements <br />of a specific position, not an individual. When an employee leaves the position to which a <br />vehicle is assigned (i.e., transfer, promotion or resignation), at the option of the City <br />Manager the vehicle assignment may remain with the position, but and does not follow <br />the employee. <br /> <br />c) For tax purposes, the Department Director must notify the P~rsb-e,~*~',C,~em-ar~l Finance <br /> Director of any personnel changes associated with vehicle take-home assignments. <br /> <br />d) A Personnel Action Request form shall be prepared for all take home vehicles assiqned. <br /> <br />4) REVIEWIREPORTING <br /> <br />a) It is the responsibility of the affected Department Director and the City Manager to <br /> monitor and control the utilization of all City-owned vehicles. <br /> <br />b) As part of the budget review process, all vehicle assignments shall be reviewed annually. <br /> Those not meeting the established criteria shall be revoked. <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />As part of the annual budget process, Department Directors shall recommend any <br />changes or continuation to the City Manager for any vehicle assignments for the next <br />fiscal year. <br /> <br />5) VEHICLE ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES ~ CITY VEHICLES ~ FOUR CLASSIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />a) 8-HOUR ASSIGNED CITY VEHICLES: <br /> <br />The Department Director will determine the assignment of an 8-hour vehicle. Such <br />assignment must meet one of the following criteria: <br /> <br />i. Vehicle is subject to frequent abnormal, excessive or hazardous conditions that <br /> cannot be avoided. <br /> <br />ii. Vehicle is required to carry special equipment, parts and tools or emergency <br /> response equipment. <br /> <br />iii. <br /> <br />Employee's position is one of inspection, deliveries, enforcement, investigation, <br />community outreach directly associated with daily authorized work programs, <br />grounds, equipment maintenance, facilities, or roads maintenance in which 70% of <br />the employee's work day is spent at a site other than their reporting location. <br /> <br />b) VEHICLES REQUIRED FOR EXTENDED OR OVERNIGHT TRAVEL <br /> <br />City vehicles required for authorized extended or overnight trips may be obtained <br />and authorized by the employee by contacting his/her respective Department <br />Director. <br /> <br />ii. <br /> <br />For overnight travel, the user should have the vehicle serviced prior to departure. <br />The user of additional fuels and lubricants shall be the responsibility of the user <br />department. <br /> <br />1/5/04 <br /> <br /> <br />
