iii. <br /> <br />Any towing charges or emergency repairs needed and incurred against the vehicle <br />during such trips shall be the responsibility of the department, subject to insurance <br />recovery. <br /> <br />iv. Any emergency repairs exceeding $150 must be pre-approved by the Department <br /> Director. <br /> <br />When operationally practical, the Department may authorize the use of a <br />the employee's privately-owned vehicle for official use in this category. FOUR HO~R ~-.~.c=!S c) 24-HOUR VEHICLE <br />ASSIGNMENT <br /> <br />i. The City Manager shall be the approving authority for all 24-hour vehicle <br /> assignments, subject to criteria established by the City Commission. <br /> <br />ii. Take home vehicles will only be assigned pursuant to distance r-~d!u= and need <br /> allowances established herein and with specific authorization from the City Manager. <br /> <br />iii. <br /> <br />In order to provide a greater margin of protection for the City's vehicle and <br />equipment from collision, damage or theft, all employees approved for overnight <br />assignment of vehicles shall be required to have off-street parking available on <br />which to park said vehicles at their residence when not in use, Assignments sha~l be <br />subject to revocation in the event of repeated on-street or inappropriate vehicle use <br />and parking. <br /> <br />iv. The assignment to an employee for use of a City vehicle on a twenty-four basis may <br /> be made if one or more of the following criteria is met: <br /> <br />1. An assigned on-call employee called out for bona fide emergencies on an <br /> average of two (2) times per month for the preceding three (3) month period. <br /> <br />2. The employee is specifically on call for emergencies and requires <br /> transportation and tools on board the vehicle to perform his duties. <br /> <br />The use of a marked 24-hour City response vehicle will reduce the City's <br />liability during a bona fide emergency response affecting Public Safety in the <br />areas of fire suppression, emergency medical response, accidents, severe <br />weather, loss of roadway, loss of traffic signals or barricades, or severe water <br />or sewer disruption or storm water washouts. <br /> <br />The employee is in an administrative or executive position that requires regular <br />and routine weekend and/or evening attendance at public meetings or related <br />functions. <br /> <br />5. The employee requires transportation during normal off-duties hours for routine <br /> performance of duties. <br /> <br />6. The employee reports to or leaves work from a site other than the employee's <br /> office at least twice per week. <br /> <br />7. The employee has been provided with a City vehicle (or allowance in lieu of) as <br /> part of an employment agreement or stipulated contract, as approved by the <br /> <br />1/.5/04 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
