OTHER ITEMS <br /> <br />A. 2006 COMMUNITY MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM RECOMMENDATIONS <br /><NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS) <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mr. Fortini stated nine (9) neighborhoods applied for the 2006 Community Matching <br />Grant Program. The submitted applications requested $29,465.14 in funding for projects to improve common <br />areas within the City. As with previous years, the City allocated $25,000 for funding in the current Parks & <br />Recreation Department budget. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board reviewed and scored the <br />applications, and recommended funding the following applications listed in priority order: <br /> <br />Villas of Casselberry Homeowners Association <br />Lake Kathryn <br />Brittany Gardens Homeowners Association <br />Southport Condominium Association <br />Windward Square Homeowners Association <br />Casselcreek <br />Park Maitland (Entrance) <br />Northshore <br />Park Maitland (Pool) <br /> <br />$3,500 <br />$1,669 <br />$ 445 <br />$3,500 <br />$4,135 <br />$5,000 <br />$2,123 <br />$4,000 <br />$ 525 <br /> <br />Budget Impact: The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board recommended reductions to four (4) funding <br />requests reducing the total funding request associated with this recommendation to $24,897. The funding is <br />available in the Parks & Recreation Department budget. There will be a zero balance left in the #001-0410- <br />572.49 account. <br /> <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Parks & Recreation Director recommended approval of the <br />amount totaling $24,897 proposed by the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding funding for the 2006 <br />Community Matching Grant Program. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: The following individuals requested an opportunity to address the 2006 Community <br />Matching Grant Program: <br /> <br />I) David Leombruno, President, Villas of Casselberry Homeowners Association, 3437 <br />Allston Lane, voiced concerns regarding comments made during the Parks & Recreation <br />Advisory Board meeting by a Parks & Recreation Advisory Board member who lives in the <br />Villas of Casselberry regarding cutting of funding to the Villas of Casselberry. Mr. <br />Leombruno stated that the Board member had recently applied to become a member of the <br />Board of Directors for the Villas of Casselberry but was not selected, and in his opinion that <br />resulted in her making politicized comments about the association. Mr. Leombruno felt that <br />although the Board member in question did not vote on the grant request from the Villas of <br />Casselberry, she should have refrained from commenting on the grant request as well. <br />
