<br />City Commission Meeting <br />July 10, 2006 <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />9. Consent A!!enda <br /> <br />A. Minutes of June 26, 2006 Meeting <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Colleen S. Hufford to approve the Consent Agenda as <br />submitted. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Susan Doerner and carried <br />on a 5 - 0 vote. <br /> <br />10. Old Business <br /> <br />A. Discussion and Consideration of Referendum for the Civic Center <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mr. Fortini stated that at the June 12,2006 meeting the City Commission requested this <br />item be placed on the June 24, 2006 Agenda for discussion. He stated that the City Clerk has included a <br />timetable with essential information regarding placing the referendum on the ballot for November 2006 <br />election. If the City chooses to go forward with the referendum, the Commission would have to agree on the <br />language for the ballot. Proposed sample ballot language is presented for consideration by the Commission <br />as follows: <br /> <br />"Shall the City of Casselberry construct a Civic Center creating a new, unique activity <br />center for citizens, establish a location to host cultural events, musical and art shows, <br />performances, youth and summer programs and educational classes where construction <br />costs are primarily funded by taxes andfees paid by commercial development?" <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Mayor Goff to move forward with a Referendum and place the item <br />of the Civic Center on the ballot for the November 2006 election. Motion was <br />seconded by Commissioner Kathy L. Cook and failed on a 3 - 2 vote. <br />Commissioners Doerner, Hufford and Hart dissenting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook requested a feasibility study be done with regard to the funding of a Civic Center. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hufford requested a report be accomplished regarding the amount of money the City has <br />already spent over the years on the Civic Center issue. <br /> <br />1 I. New Business <br /> <br />A. Special Invoice and Minor Contract Report <br />. Stenstrom, McIntosh Law Firm Special Legal Services in JORO Case ($225.00) <br />. Brown, Garganese, Weiss & D' Agresta, P. A., City Attorney Services _ June 2006 <br />($20,256.02) <br />. Akerman Senterfitt, City Labor Attorney Services - May 2006 ($13,681.00) <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Linda Hart to approve the Special Invoice and Minor <br />Contract Report as submitted. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Susan <br />Doerner and carried on a 5 - 0 vote. <br />
