He stated he was active in the Rotary Club of Casselbeny and the past <br />Chairman of the Greater Seminole County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. MacDiarmid stated <br />his intention was to also support and provide sponsorship to many activities in the City such <br />as the semi-annual jazz and art events. <br /> <br />7. Hank Lander, President of the Casselbeny Chamber of Commerce, 445 Surrey Run, <br />spoke in favor of the "Revitalizing Casselbeny" plan and read a letter of support on behalf <br />of the Board of Directors of the Casselbeny Chamber of Commerce into the record. <br /> <br />8. John Casselbeny, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, suggested that the civic center and the City <br />Center should not be tied together and voted as separate items. Mr. Casselbeny further <br />stated that the City should not move forward until a current appraisal is obtained on the <br />parcels involved which cites the frontage value of the property. Mr. Stampfler stated that <br />the appraisal was current as of January 2006, and that the City would be receiving a fair <br />value price the property and Unicorp would be receiving a fair purchase price, which was <br />a win-win situation for both sides. <br /> <br />9. Chris Akers, Pastor of the United Methodist Church, 1082 Crystal Bowl Circle, spoke <br />in favor of the "Revitalizing Casselbeny" plan and read the church's proclamation of <br />support into the record. <br /> <br />10. Mary Poindexter, 699 Holly Hill Avenue, spoke in opposition to the "Revitalizing <br />Casselbeny" plan and stated she thought the matter should be brought to a referendum for <br />public consideration. <br /> <br />II. Dale Christensen, I 080 Crystal Bowl Circle, spoke in favor of the "Revitalizing <br />Casselbeny" plan. Mr. Christensen stated he was a member of the board that determined <br />the findings of facts and conclusions that led to the creation of the CRA. He strongly <br />encouraged the Commission the approve the projects as a means to increase the City's tax <br />base, by attracting investments to make the area suitable and sustainable for future growth. <br />Mr. Christensen opined that if the City does not increase its tax base by 10% per year over <br />the next five years, it will be out of business. <br /> <br />12. Thomas Scahill, 211 Savannah Park Loop, spoke in favor of the "Revitalizing <br />Casselbeny" plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Tim Keene, Representative ofUnicorp Developments, Inc.. assured the Commission that they would <br />develop a downtown project that the City would be proud of and that Unicorp was very capable of doing <br />the project. He stated that he was available for questions. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner moved to approve the <br />"Revitalizing Casselberry" plan dated Febrnary 8, <br />2006 as presented. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Hufford. <br />
