<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of February 27, 2006 - Regular Meeting <br />Page 6 of 13 <br /> <br />Discussiou on Motion: Commissiouer Cook disagreed with approving the City Center Project and the Civic <br />Center as a whole package; she wanted to see the two projects split out and voted <br />on separately. Commissioner Cook stated that she did not have a problem with the <br />City Center project going forward; but had concerns with the civic center project <br />going forward, and believed the Civic Center Project should go to referendum to <br />determine ifthe citizens are willing to spend $13million on the project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hufford stated that as the project goes forward, the CRA would <br />generate approximately $1 million that will go into fueling the civic center, and the <br />civic center would generate back into the economy between $1.6 to $2.3 million. <br />Commissioner Hufford stated that she felt the projects are a win-win for the <br />community and free enterprise. Commissioner Hufford further stated the citizens <br />she has spoken with support the Civic Center, and felt going to referendum would <br />only stall the process. <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner stated that Unicorp project has presented very nice designs <br />and concepts for the City Center Project, and the citizens support both projects. <br />Commissioner Doerner stated she supported the civic center and the City's ability <br />to operate the facility, further stating the Commission should leave the details ofthe <br />projects to the professionals, the City Manager and staff. <br /> <br />Motion carried unanimously 4 - 0 by voice vote. <br /> <br />B. RESOLUTION 06-1651 - SALE & PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH UNICORP <br />NATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS. INC. FOR SALE OF PROPERTIES I AND 2 <br />05.3-ACRE PARCEL AT U.S. HWY. 17-92 AND TRIPLET LAKE DRIVE)- <br />$4.443.000 AND PROPERTY 3 (PARCELS "NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE <br />NEBEL PROPERTY" ON U.S. HWY. 17-92) - $557.000 <br /> <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 06-1651 by title as follows: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE <br />SALE OF REAL ESTATE TO UNlCORP NATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS, INC.; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTNE DATE." <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Same presentation as presented under Item A, "Revitalizing Casselbeny". <br /> <br />Audience Participation: Two (2) audience comment request forms were received for Resolution 06-1651. <br /> <br />I. Hal Billerbeck, 531 Sundown Trail, declined his opportunity to address Resolution 06- <br />1651. <br /> <br />2. John Casselbeny, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, spoke in opposition of Resolution 06-1651. <br />
