First Reading of Ordinance 06-1175 - Occupational License Fees The City Clerk read Ordinance 06-1 175 by title as follows: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, BY SUBST ANTIALL Y AMENDING, REVISING AND UPDA TING CHAPTER 26, "OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE TAX": AMENDING SECTION 26.26 "DEFINITIONS' TO EXPAND THE TERM "BUSINESS': AMENDING SECTION 26.33, "LICENSE REQUIRED", TO CLARIFY LANGUAGE: AMENDING SECTION 26.36, "PREREQUISITES FOR ISSUANCE OF LICENSE", ADDING DESIGNEE: DELETION OF 26.38(C), "DISPLAY OF LICENSE IDENTIFICATION STICKERS"; AMENDING SECTION 26.39, "TRANSFER OF LICENSE", INCREASING THE TRANSFER FEE: SECTION 26.40 "REPLACEMENT OF UICENSE FEE", INCREASING REPLACEMENT FEE: SECTION 26.43 "EXEMPTIONS", ADDING LANGUAGE TO INCLUDE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION REQUIREMENTS; SECTION 26.44 "DELINQUENCY; PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO OBTAIN LICENSE", AMENDING AND ADDING LANGUAGE FOR DELINQUENT OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES: SECTION 26.45 "FEE SCHEDULE", ADOPTING AN UPDATED FEE SCHEDULE: PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CODIFICATION, CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Staff Presentation: Ordinance 06-1175 increases the City's occupational license fees by 5% based on Florida Statutes 205.0535 and the Tax Equity Study conducted by the City in 1994. The City did not increase occupational license fees at that time, nor have fees been increased until now. Based on the 2005 occupational license revenue of $211 ,898, the 2006 approximate revenue with the 5% increase would be $222,493 (an increase of$10,595). The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the form and content of the ordinance.
