Mr. Baenziger read the selection to the City Commission <br />and stated the information did not worry him, citing that Mr. Starnpfler's references were excellent, and he <br />just wanted to make the Commission aware ofthe new information, which seems to indicate Mr. Stampfler's <br />strong management style. Mr. Baenziger suggested his firm could conduct an extra step of on-site <br />background interviews on which ever candidate the City Commission selects tonight, and that such an extra <br />step is commonly done. <br /> <br />City Commissian Discussion: Mayor Goff voiced concerns regarding the current limited housing market <br />in the City and the requirement that the City Manager live within the City limits within six months of being <br />appointed. Mr. Segreto stated the City Manager residency requirement is contained in the City Charter and <br />would require a referendum to modify that provision. Commissioner Doerner stated she did not feel the <br />residency requirement was an issue and that the new appointee could always rent a residence within the City <br />until they found a suitable permanent residence. Commissioner Doerner and Commissioner Hufford voiced <br />concerns regarding the manner in which the Portage recruitment brochure information was presented to the <br />City Commission. <br /> <br />Paper ballots were distributed to the City Commission and Mr. Baenziger requested that each member vote <br />for their two (2) top candidates. Mr. Baenziger clarified that casting two votes was not mandatory and each <br />Commissioner could select only one candidate if they so chose. Commissioner Cook withdrew her <br />vote for Mr. Winson and voted for Michael Stampfler. The City Commission unanimously voted ta select <br />Michael L. Stampfler as City Manager. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Cammissioner Doerner maved to authorize the City <br />Attorney ta begin contract negatiations with Michael <br />L. Stampfler. Motion was seconded by Vice Mayor <br />Hart. Matian carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />B. APPROVAL TO PROCEED WITH PURCHASE OF THE CONCORD CENTER <br />PROPERTY <br /> <br />Staff Presentatian: Mr. Segreto stated the City Commission previously authorized the Mayor to sign a <br />contract with Concord Ventures, LLC to purchase the Concord Center property at its June 13, 2005 meeting. <br />
