City Commission Meeting June 13, 2005 Page 9 Mr. Segreto recommended the City Manager selection process be moved forward quickly and not delayed. He also stated that with the current dynamics on the Commission, it may be prudent to conduct a strategic planning session to develop some consensus on issues before a City Manager is hired. Consensus of Commission was not to delay but move forward with the selection of a consultant. MOTION: Moved by Commissioner Susan Doerner to select the consultant of Colin Baenziger and Associates for the City Manager search and authorize the Mayor to execute a contract and authorize the staff to conduct reference check re the consultant and negotiate a contract. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Colleen Hufford and carried on a 4 - 1 by roll call vote. (Commissioner Cook dissenting) Commission was asked to advise the Personnel Department of their vacation times and/or times they would not be available for meeting re the selection process. C. First Reading of Ordinance 05-1163 - Annexation of Bich/Carnet Brokers Pronerties on State Road 436 The City Clerk read Ordinance 05-1163 by title as follows: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION; MAKING FINDINGS; ANNEXING TO AND INCLUDING WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, CERTAIN LANDS LOCATED IN SECTION 21, TOWNSHIP 21 S, RANGE 30E, REDEFINING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE INTERIM PROVISION OF LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS; PROVIDING THAT CERTAIN COUNTY LICENSEES FOLLOWING THEIR BUSINESS, TRADE OR PROFESSION WITHIN THE LANDS TO BE ANNEXED MAY CONTINUE TO FOLLOW SUCH BUSINESS, TRADE OR PROFESSION THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CORPORATE LIMITS WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF FURTHER QUALIFICATION THEREFORE; PROVIDING THAT EFFECTIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LAW, THE LANDS TO BE ANNEXED SHALL BE ASSESSED FOR PAYMENT OF MUNICIPAL AD VALOREM TAXES; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FILE CERTIFIED COPIES OF THE ORDINANCE WITH THE CLERK OF COURT AND THE SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA; AND PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE." The entire property is 2.9 acres, which includes the annexation of the Carpet Brokers property, and located on the west side of State Road 436 for a distance of approximately 277 feet and is approximately 525 feet deep.
