City Mana!!er Selection Process <br /> <br />The Personnel Director circulated a binder that included the following: <br /> <br />(1) Survey of Recent City/County Executive Searches <br />(2) Comparison of Consultant and Staff Tasks and Duties <br />(3) Perceived Advantages and Disadvantages of Executive Recruiter vs. Range Ride <br />(4) Summary of Executive Search Consultant Proposals <br />· Colin Baenziger & Associates <br />· The Mercer Group <br />· Waters Consulting Group <br />· Florida Employer Solutions. <br /> <br />Audience InDut: <br /> <br />I) Bernard Fudim, 906 Niblick Drive, Casselberry, Florida, suggested the Commission look into and <br />discuss reasons why the former City Managers resigned before embarking upon a search for a new <br />manager. <br /> <br />2) John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, said the City may want to <br />structure an initial time frame into a contract for the new city manager. The new manager should <br />also be well versed in City/County Charter government. <br /> <br />3) Hal Billerbeck, 531 Sundown Trail, suggested the Commission appoint a selection Committee for <br />the City Manager search that would include the City Commission, staff and volunteer citizens from <br />the City of Casselberry. <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner favored hiring an outside consultant firm for the City Manager search. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook favored using the Range Rider method that was utilized the lasttime the City recruited <br />a City Manager, which is at nO charge to the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hart favored using the consultant method but recommended the Comm ission delay the process <br />until after the budget. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hufford said the process used by the Commission during the last search worked well and she <br />favored using input from the citizens as well. <br /> <br />Mayor Goff favored using a consultant for the manager search and hiring a city manager with Florida <br />experience. He also wanted to delay the process until after the budget and hurricane season. <br />
