<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of May 9, 2005 - Regular Meeting <br />Page 9 of lZ <br /> <br />data as it relates to growth and its impact on the educational system and to make recommendations to the <br />School Board. Commissioner Doerner nominated Commissioner Cook for appointment to the Seminole <br />County Educational System Advisory Committee. Unanimous Commission consensus was to appoint <br />Commissioner Cook to the Seminole County Educational System Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />I. RESOLUTION 05-1583 - PURCHASE OF PROPERTY ON NORTH WINTER <br />PARK DRNE - ADDED <br /> <br />(Please refer to page 2 of these minutes to reference action taken to add this item to the agenda.) <br /> <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 05-1583 by title as follows: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH MARCEL AND JEANNE DULONG FOR THE <br />SALE OF PARCEL NO. 09-21-30-5BM-OBOO-001B, ON NORTH WINTER PARK <br />DRIVE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE." <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mr. Segreto stated Resolution 05-1583 provides for purchase of a vacant parcel on North <br />Winter Park Drive, north ofSeminola Boulevard in the amount of $99,000. The subject parcel is adjacent <br />to City owned property and the City's consulting engineer has identified the parcel as an ideal location for <br />use as retention as the drainage system of this section of North Winter Park Drive is modified. Staff <br />recommended approval of Resolution 05-1583 as presented. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: No audience comment request forms were received for this item. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner moved to approve Resolution <br />05-1583 as presented. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Hufford. Motion carried unanimously <br />by voice vote. <br /> <br />J. CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF CITY MANAGER'S RESIGNATION <br />AND APPOINTMENT OF INTERIM CITY MANAGER - ADDED <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: Mayor Goff added item J under New Business. A resignation letter was sent to <br />the City Commission by Frank Clifton via email at 4:43 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2005, providing 60 days <br />notice as required by Mr. Clifton's employment contract. A copy of Mr. Clifton's resignation letter is <br />attached to and made a part of these miuutes. Mayor Goff stated the City Commission needed to accept <br />Mr. Clifton's resignation and consider relieving Mr. Clifton of his duties prior to July 9, 2005. Mr. Segreto <br />stated he spoke to Mr. Clifton and that he had indicated that he will serve out his contract if that is the <br />Commission's desire for him to do so. Mr. Clifton accepted the position of County Manager of Onslow <br />County, North Carolina. Discussion ensued regarding the effective date of Mr. Clifton's resignation. <br />Commissioner Doerner and Commissioner Hufford stated they felt Mr. Clifton should be required to fulfill <br />the entire 60 day period, as required by his contract in order to help with the transition of negotiations with <br />current issues, such as the redevelopment of the land across from City Hall and the utility rate study, in <br />
