<br />CASSELBERRV CITV COMMISSION <br />Minutes of January 10,2005 - Regular Meeting <br />Page 16 of 18 <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: Commissioner Cook and Vice Mayor Hart were supportive of establishing a new <br />appeal process for the Board of Adjustment and to have it be a de novo process. Commission consensus was <br />to direct staffto bring forward an ordinance to change the Board of Adjustment appeals process to establish <br />the City Commission as the appeals board for the Board of Adjustment. It was noted the proposed ordinance <br />would have to reviewed by the Planning & Zoning Commission prior to be considered by the City <br />Commission. <br /> <br />IX. CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br />Two (2) audience comment request forms were turned in for Citizen Comments. The following individuals <br />came forward: <br /> <br />I) John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, reiterated his request that additional <br />proposals besides Unicorp be considered for the City Center proj ect. He inquired if the new <br />members of the City Commission had received a copy of his letter on the matter which was <br />distributed prior to the election. Mayor Goff and Commissioner Hufford stated they were <br />familiar with Mr. Casselberry's concerns and the proposed project and did not feel the <br />matter needed to be reconsidered by the current City Commission. <br /> <br />2) Hal Bìllerbeck, 531 Sundown Traìl, took exception to a recent comment by <br />Commissioner Cook regarding the aggressive nature ofthe City's code enforcement and the <br />fact that it was staff initiated rather than complaint driven. Mr. Billerbeck stated he <br />supported the current strong code enforcement action. Mr. Billerbeck stated he also took <br />exception to comments made by Mayor Goff in a recent Orlando Sentinel news article <br />concerning his focus being on representing citizens who were renters and property owners <br />who's property value was less than $50,000. Mr. Billerbeck did not agree with the Mayor's <br />figures for housing representation in the City. Mr. Bìllerbeck stated the City Commission <br />should listen to what the citizens comments are and do what's in the best interest of what <br />a majority of the citizens want, and not pursue individual agendas. Mr. Billerbeck stated <br />the majority of Casselberry citizens want to develop the City Center, have stronger code <br />enforcement, and not have any adult entertainment located in the community. Mr. Goff <br />took exception to Mr. Bìllerbeck's comments and stated Mr. Bìllerbeck ran for Mayor in the <br />last election and distributed literature with his personal agenda for the City. <br /> <br />X.
