CASSrLBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of October 28, 2024 — Regular Meeting Page 9 of 12 Recommendation: The City Manager and the City Clerk recommended that the City Commission consider appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill the unexpired regular term effective until January 31, 2026. Audience Participation: No one came forward to address this item. MOTION: Commissioner Busch moved to appoint Tim Veigle as a regular member of the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Thomas Kirk, term effective through January 31, 2026. Motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Aramendia. Motion carried by voice vote 4-0. City Clerk Donna Gardner confirmed that Mr. Veigle's appointment would be for an unexpired term effective through January 31, 2026. C. Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board Appointments Staff Presentation: Applications are being presented for consideration for appointment to the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board. City Clerk Donna Gardner stated that the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board meets quarterly and consists of five (5) members: two (2) members appointed by the City Commission, one (1) elected police officer member, one (1) elected firefighter lnember, and a fifth member who is selected by the other four members and ratified by the City Commission. The member terms are two (2) years, and the Pension Board is exempt from the City's three term limit policy. Ms. Gardner added that since Tim Veigle had been appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission in the previous agenda item, there was now only one re -appointment to consider which was Travis Kelley, who would be eligible for a first full term as lie had previously been filling the unexpired term caused by Commissioner Divita's appointment to the City Commission. If appointed, Mr. Kelley's term would be through November 30, 2026, and then an appointment to fill the remaining vacancy on the Pension Board caused by Mr. Veigle's appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission would be included with the bulk of the board appointments in January. Budget Impact: This item has no impact to the City Budget. Recommendation: The City Manager and the City Clerk recommended that the City Commission consider reappointment of Tim Veigle to a second term and Travis Kelley to a first full term to the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board, terms effective through November 30, 2026. Audience Participation: No one came forward to address this item. MOTION: Commissioner Busch moved to reappoint Travis Kelley to the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board, for a first full term effective through November 30, 2026. Motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Aramendia. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 4-0.
