City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—September 12, 2023 <br />6. Staff Reports <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared The Georgia Thunderbolts headlined the free Rock N' <br />Blues Concert and Car Show on Memorial weekend. More than 150 classic cars, muscle cars, <br />and hot rods showed up for car enthusiasts to enjoy. The City honored all veterans for their <br />service with a color guard display and plaque. <br />During the summer months we themed our food truck events with June's being a Bubble Blast, <br />which was very well attended and especially enjoyed by the kids. July's was a Backyard Luau <br />which was unfortunately rained out, and August's the Dog Days of Summer which proved to be <br />extremely hot thus not as well attended. <br />The grand reopening of Secret Lake Park received positive feedback. The scavenger hunt <br />encouraged guests to experience all of the new elements of the park. The event concluded with <br />a free cookout with hot dogs provided by Friends of the Park. Over the summer at Secret Lake <br />Park, Portuguese Soccer giants, FC Porto, brought its "Dragon Force World Camp" to <br />Casselberry providing the opportunity for some to be chosen to go overseas to work in their <br />program. <br />The current art exhibit at City Hall and at the Art House are related to the celebration of <br />Hispanic Heritage month. The Sculpture House's current installation features three artists and is <br />entitled "Common Thread." <br />The Swing "Fore" the Arts Golf Tournament is Friday, October 6th and we are still registering <br />golfers. Proceeds will go toward Arts and Culture in Casselberry. <br />On Friday, October 13th our Friday Food Trucks will feature a unique Enchanted Evening of <br />Mystic Arts presented by the Seminole Cultural Arts Council. <br />Bike 5 Cities on Saturday, October 14th includes Casselberry as one of the 5 cities and the only <br />in Seminole County that was selected to have a bike touring group ride through as part of the <br />Bike Walk Central Florida annual event. Visit https://bikewalkcentralflorida.org/bike5/ <br />Halloween Funtoberfest will have various non-profit groups and churches working together to <br />bring together a free family friendly event to Lake Concord Park. More than 2,000 people are <br />expected for the event that will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 21St with <br />Trick or Treating, vendor booths, a DJ dance party, costume contest and more live <br />entertainment for the entire family. <br />On Saturday, November 4th the City, Gumbo Wars Inc., and Fish Florida will team up to present <br />an exciting day of adventure at Secret Lake Park with the annual Hook Kids on Fishing event <br />9:00 a.m. until noon. This free children's event will feature a fishing clinic with volunteers from <br />
