Section 4.09. <br />Section 7.01. Time and place of City election. <br />Election of the Mayor�C'^r,r,;� and City Commission members shall be the same time as the <br />State primary election or the Tuesday ten weeks prior to the general election, if no primary is held. <br />Such election shall be known as the City election of the City of Casselberry, Florida, within the <br />City for all purposes. Voting places shall be determined by the City Commission at either a regular <br />or special meeting. <br />Section 7.06. Procedure for placing names on ballot; alternative method of qualifying. <br />Any elector may become a candidate for Mayor/Commissio or Commissioner by filing with <br />the City Clerk an application to have his/her name printed on the ballot as a candidate for a seat <br />specifically named from 12:00 p.m. Monday through 12:00 p.m. Friday, during regular business <br />hours, for the five-day period during the third full week in May. Each person seeking election to <br />the City Commission shall pay, at the time of qualifying for office, a qualifying fee to the City <br />Clerk. The amount of the qualifying fee is one percent of the annual salary of the office. <br />Additionally, candidates shall comply with F.S. § 99.093, as amended. <br />Any person seeking election to the City Commission who is unable to pay the one percent <br />qualifying fee without imposing an undue burden on his or her personal resources or on resources <br />otherwise available to the person shall, upon written certification of such inability given under oath <br />to the City Clerk, be exempt from paying the one percent qualifying fee and may qualify to have <br />his or her name placed on the ballot by means of the following petitioning process: <br />(1) Upon receipt of the written oath from the candidate, the City Clerk shall provide the <br />candidate with petition forms in sufficient numbers to facilitate the gathering of signatures required <br />pursuant to this Section. The petition forms shall indicate the seat for which the candidate is <br />running. <br />(2) When the candidate has filed the oath and received the petition forms prescribed herein, <br />the candidate may begin to seek signatures on the petitions supporting his or her candidacy. Only <br />signatures of qualified electors of the City of Casselberry shall be counted toward obtaining the <br />number of signatures required in this subsection.
