1. All canine teams must successfully meet the initial and re -certification requirements set <br />forth by the Florida Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. This is the <br />minimum state requirement for patrol canine operations. <br />2. All agencies with canine teams will maintain copies of the initial training certificates and <br />re -certification certificates and provide copies of said documents to each Sheriff/Chief or <br />his designee on an annual basis upon request. <br />3. Handlers will document all training done with their canines. Documentation of canine <br />training shall be on training forms or documented as provided and approved in the <br />member agency's policy. <br />4. Handlers will document and maintain deployment reports documenting each time a <br />canine is handled in a deployment or enforcement capacity. <br />5. Handlers will complete statements pertaining to their involvement in a criminal incident <br />investigation as requested by the requesting investigative agency. <br />B. Specialized Training <br />1. Training for passive tracking canines or canines used to locate narcotics, explosives, <br />and cadavers will be administered by a recognized trainer and/or training facility. <br />2. Each handler and canine team receiving specialized training will be certified by the <br />training facility or a nationally recognized association such as the United States Police <br />Canine Association, North American Police Work Dog Association, National Police <br />Canine Association, or the Law Enforcement Bloodhound Association. <br />3. Copies of initial specialized training certificates and/or additional training certificates shall <br />be submitted to each Sheriff/Chief or his/her designee on an annual basis. <br />4. A list of the member agency handlers and their canine's abilities shall be provided to the <br />communications center which dispatches calls for said agency and kept current. <br />SECTION VI. RESPONSE TO RESISTANCE <br />A. Each participating Agency shall have a written policy addressing when a handler is <br />authorized to utilize his/her canine to forcibly control a suspect. If deploying outside the <br />jurisdiction the following standard shall apply: <br />B.
