C. The handler shall be responsible for ensuring that medical aid is summoned as soon as <br />safety permits and shall notify his/her supervisor of the incident. The suspect shall be <br />evaluated by medical personnel or transported to a hospital. <br />D. Handlers utilizing force (including their canine's force) shall complete a "Response to <br />Resistance" form as prescribed by their agency. <br />E. All injuries caused by canines shall be photographed and attached to the "Response to <br />Resistance Report" and shall include a photograph of the subject's face for identification <br />purposes. <br />F. The "Response to Resistance Report" packet shall be forwarded through the handler's <br />chain of command. Copies shall be provided to the arresting deputy/officer if requested <br />or necessary. <br />G. Handlers shall immediately report all accidental canine bites to their supervisor and <br />shall fully document all accidental canine bites. <br />SECTION VII. POWERS, PRIVILEGES, IMMUNITIES, AND COSTS <br />A. Members of the subscribed law enforcement agencies, when actually engaging in mutual <br />cooperation and assistance outside of the jurisdictional limits of their respective agencies, <br />under the terms of this Agreement, shall, pursuant to the provisions of Section 23.127, <br />Florida Statutes, have the same powers, duties, rights, privileges, and immunities, as if <br />they were performing their duties in the political subdivision in which they are normally <br />employed. <br />B. Each party agrees to furnish necessary equipment, resources, and facilities, and to <br />render services to each other party to the Agreement as set forth above, provided <br />however, that no party shall be required to deplete unreasonably its own equipment, <br />resources, facilities, and services, in furnishing such mutual aid. <br />C. The agency furnishing aid, pursuant to this Agreement, shall bear the loss or damages to <br />such equipment and canine, and shall pay any expense incurred in the operation and <br />maintenance thereof. <br />D. The agency furnishing aid, pursuant to this Agreement, shall compensate its <br />appointees/employees during the time such aid is rendered, and shall defray the actual <br />travel maintenance expenses of such appointees/employees while they are rendering <br />such aid, including any amounts paid or due for compensation due to personal injury or <br />death while such appointees/employees are engaged in rendering such aid. <br />CitylCounty K-9 Unit Mutual Aid Agreement — January 2017 <br />Cities of Altamonte Springs, Apopka, Casselberry, Lake Mary, Longwood, <br />Maitland, Oviedo, Sanford, Winter Park, Winter Springs, Sanford Airport Authority, the University of Central <br />Florida Police and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office <br />
