CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of November 14, 2022 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 12 of 30 <br />understanding of the structural deficiencies with the Brightwater structure and would include structural <br />analysis on the roof and roof structure with replacement with the City -preferred tile, structural analysis of <br />the flat roof section, structural analysis on all weight bearing members, and provision of specifications and <br />recommendations for repairs, including assistance with the solicitation development for the repairs project. <br />Since Hurricane Ian there have been additional damages and this proposal will allow a better evaluation of <br />the roof as there are areas that can't been seen until the contractor actually starts taking it apart. The final <br />proposal has not yet been received; however, staff did not want to delay any further to get the solicitation <br />process started. If this item is approved, it will take approximately 2-3 months for design and evaluation <br />of the deficiencies and will be 6-8 months at best before actual construction of the repairs can be started. <br />In response to additional questions from the City Commission Mr. Barden confirmed there were active <br />leaks in the house and he and staff had not yet evaluated any new damages since Hurricane Nicole but <br />would be doing so this week, and that the timeline mentioned was the quickest the work could be done. <br />Budget Impact: Budget Amendment #23-011 will provide sufficient funding for this item by increasing <br />General Fund Other Non-operating Sources account #001-0000-389.90-00 and General Fund Parks <br />Professional Services account #001-0410-572.31-00 each by $65,000. <br />BA #23-011 <br />Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for roofing <br />evaluation and scoping services for Brightwater property with GAI Consultants, Inc. in the amount of <br />$65,000. <br />Account Number Account Description Amount <br />Increase: <br />001-0000-389.90-00 Other Non-operating Source $65,000 <br />001-0410-572.31-00 Professional Services $65,000 <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works & Utilities Director recommended approval <br />of authorization for the City Manager to execute a Task Authorization with GAI Consultants, Inc. in an <br />amount not to exceed $65,000 for roofing evaluation and scoping services for Brightwater and related <br />Budget Amendment #23-011. <br />Audience Participation: No one came forward to address this item. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Meadows moved to approve authorization for the City <br />Manager to execute a Task Authorization with GAI Consultants, Inc. in an <br />amount not to exceed $65,000 for roofing evaluation and scoping services for <br />Brightwater and related Budget Amendment #23-011.
