DRAFT
TASK 8 — HYDRAULIC CAPACITY AND FUTURE CONDITIONS ANALYSIS
Using the calibrated Model, alternative scenarios will be developed and evaluated for the
City's previous Water Master Plan proposed projects review, expansion, repair and/or
replacement of the water distribution system infrastructure. This will include all
anticipated areas to be served by the City including proposed annexations.
Task 8.1 —Alternative Development
REI will:
- Document the CIP items and items recommended in the City's previous Water Master
Plan.
- Develop alternatives for fixture conditions evaluation based on the updated water
demand projections. Alternatives will be developed based on the planning years of
existing year (2010), as well as years 2015 and 2020.
- Develop a looping alternative to identify potential looping mains area throughout the
distribution system.
- Develop an alternative to evaluate the need for each of the City's elevated storage
tanks in the distribution system.
- Develop alternatives that consider the impact of focused redevelopment along major
corridors within the City, including any zoning changes.
- Update the City services criteria which will be used to evaluate Model outputs.
Task 8.2 —Staff Review Workshop
REI will:
- Prepare for and attend a workshop with the City staff to present the preliminary
findings of the study and build consensus on the alternatives for further evaluation.
Task 8.3 —Alternative Evaluation
REI will:
- Utilize the data collected and perform a capacity assessment of the City's existing
water distribution system infrastructure. Specifically, REI staff will review and
investigate the velocity and headloss in distribution piping based on the City's
services criteria to investigate the adequacy of existing capacity and identify the need
for additional infrastructure or the availability of additional capacity.
- Analyze the CIP items and items recommended in the City's previous Water Master
Plan and determine the need of the historical projects based on existing and 5 -year
conditions.
- Utilize the hydraulic model to perform technical evaluations of the alternatives
developed based on future conditions in the previous sub -tasks.
Page 7 of 14 (#0 1 ; ;E r Ai ]L _Ph l{s
