Mr. Mark Gisclar <br />Page 2 <br />February 11, 2009 <br />Site Conditions Review <br />• Periodically review overall condition of site for excessive construction debris or <br />erosion, proper drainage and access, and related items in accordance with the <br />contract documents. <br />• Periodically review protection provisions for existing structures, piping, trees <br />and other items designated to be protected. <br />• Document deficiencies and notify the Contractor. <br />Structural Subgrade Review <br />• Review work and coordinate soil engineer and/or testing lab visits for subgrade <br />verification. <br />• Review work to verify no foundations or structural slabs on grade are <br />recommended for payment if concrete placement is made without written soils <br />lab approval of subgrade condition. <br />Coordinate and Review Soils Testing <br />• Verify embankment, stabilization, roadway base, subgrade & pipe backfill <br />testing and that minimum specified densities are achieved. <br />• Review all test results submitted to verify compliance with specified <br />requirements and maintain Project Log. Verify that the testing lab and personnel <br />are following all contract sampling and testing procedures and testing frequency. <br />• Verify areas of failing compaction are corrected to specified criteria. <br />• Verify that all lab and field personnel have the proper qualifications and <br />certifications. <br />Coordinate and Review Concrete Testing <br />• Monitor sampling program to verify correct number of cylinders are taken as <br />called for in the specifications. <br />• Review field data to verify other items' such as slump, air entrainment and <br />special admixtures are in accordance with the Contract Documents. <br />• Review each failing compressive strength test to determine structural <br />implications and course of corrective action required. <br />Coordinate Recycled Asphalt Stabilized Base, Structural Course and Friction <br />Course Construction <br />• Assist Contactor, Client, Seminole County and Seminole County's contractor in <br />coordinating construction phasing of recycled asphalt stabilized base, structural <br />course, and friction course. <br />HDR Engineering, Inc.. 315 E Robinson Street Phone: (407)420-4200 <br />Suite 400 I Fax: (407)420-4242 <br />Orlando, FL 32801-1949 www.hdrinc.com <br />
