CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of June 27, 2022 — Rcgular Meeting <br />Page 12 of 13 <br />tree law requiring homeowners to possess an in-person professional determination and defining <br />"residential" to mean occupied land, not vacant land; prohibition on residential picketing; a very extensive <br />elections statute which includes among other changes, special officers to investigate elections, additional <br />regulation on citizen initiatives and mail ballots, prohibitions on ranked choice elections and private <br />donations for elections expenses; additional regulation of "pop-up" parties; prohibition of unlawful <br />employment actions based on race or gender; requirement for municipalities and counties to amend their <br />comp plans and zoning regulations to allow for floating solar facilities on certain ponds; public records <br />exemptions for cyber security provisions; requirement for tax referendum issues to be placed on the general <br />election ballot, not at a separate time; prohibiting lobbying activities by elected officials during and after <br />terms for a specified period of time; and allowing prohibition of smoking in public parks. <br />Ms. Reischmann indicated that several of the new laws were being challenged, so she would keep the City <br />Commission advised on the outcomes of those challenges. She added that staff would be bringing <br />appropriate code changes to the City Commission as a result of some of the new legislation. She also <br />advised that although the Governor had vetoed the business damages legislation, he had noted it would be <br />brought back as targeted preemptions to things such as mask mandates, etc. <br />16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT <br />City Clerk Donna Gardner shared the following information: <br />• City Hall and all City facilities with the exception of the Wirz Park pool will be closed Monday, <br />July 4"' in observance of Independence Day. The pool will be open its normal hours from 10 <br />a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4'i'. <br />• The next City event will be the Food Truck event on Friday, July Sri' from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in <br />Lake Concord Park. <br />• A Budget Workshop is scheduled for Monday, July 1 It" at 4:00 p.1n. in the City Commission <br />Chambers. <br />• There will be only one regular City Commission meeting for the month of July and that is <br />scheduled for Monday, July 25t" at 5:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers. <br />17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Chad Albritton — Seat No. 4: <br />• Also commended all of the City's police officers who had a part in responding to the recent <br />tragedy. <br />• Expressed appreciation for the Pride Month proclamation and thanked Vice Mayor Aramendia <br />for taking the lead and suggesting it at the last meeting, and the other Commissioners for their <br />support of the proclamation. <br />
