Planning & Zoning Commission/ <br />Local Planning Agency Minutes <br />November 10, 2021 <br />Page 4 <br />In response to the Commission's question, Mr. Bowley explained that the 80% impervious surface calculation <br />includes both sites. A general discussion ensued regarding the layout of the Police and Fire drive lanes, parking for <br />the site, and crosswalks. <br />In response to the Commission's question, Chief Larry Krantz, Police Chief, came forward to explain that the <br />Police Station is considered a "Safe Place" for people to come. He said it is not a designated place for Marketplace <br />transactions but it is permitted on their site. He said that this type of transaction may be incorporated at the future <br />Police Station. <br />Chief Krantz explained that the design of the new Police Station would incorporate a large evidence bay, the <br />drug storage would be in a separate well -ventilated area and there would be a vehicle processing bay. He said there <br />would be additional offices for future growth that could be used for training opportunities. <br />In response to the Commission's question, Chief Krantz said there would be no holding cells at the new <br />Police Station. In response to the Commission's question regarding constructing a three-story building, Mr. Bowley <br />said there are height restrictions and that a two-story building is the maximum allowed. Chief Krantz said that they <br />believe the current design of the proposed Police Station would provide the ability for growth opportunities. <br />A general discussion ensued regarding future employee growth and parking for the public. Chief Krantz said <br />it was important to have a secured parking area for the police vehicles/equipment. A brief discussion ensued <br />regarding access from the site and the current/future number of employees. <br />In response to the Commission's question, Mr. Bowley said capacity for the community room is 30 people. A <br />general discussion ensued regarding the parking needs when the community room is in use, adding more <br />crosswalks, and noise pollution concerns for the adjacent residents. <br />Mr. Phillips asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in favor of, or in opposition to, <br />the request. No one came forward. <br />Mr. Phillips asked for a motion to address SPR 21-16. Ms. Divita made a motion that the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission approve case number SPR 21-16, based on the staff report and the testimony and evidence <br />
