CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of July 28, 2014 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 6 of 13 <br />BA #14-046 <br />Explanation of Request: Budget Amendment 14-046 seeks Commission approval for the Police Department <br />to purchase 37 GPS based automated vehicle locator systems in the amount of $1,257. The monies will be <br />taken from the Police Department's State Law Enforcement Trust Fund. <br />Account Number Account Descriation Amount <br />Increase: <br />104-0610-521.56-00 Small Tools/Equipment $1,257 <br />104-0000-389.90-00 Non -Operating Sources $1,257 <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval to purchase thirty-seven <br />(37) vehicle global positioning systems in the amount of $1,257 and related Budget Amendment #14-046. <br />Audience Participation: The following individual calve forward to address the Consent Agenda: <br />Mr. James Fraleigh, 23 Teresa Court, expressed concerns about Item C, Resolution 14-2634 — <br />Street Lighting Assessment Preliminary Rate Resolution, stating he felt the City should <br />concentrate on spending money on fundamental lighting rather than fancy expensive lighting. <br />He also reiterated his earlier concerns about the lack of sufficient lighting along U.S. Highway <br />17-92 from the Police Department to the Publix shopping center. <br />No one else came forward. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Aramendia moved to approve the Consent Agenda, as presented. <br />Motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Hufford. Motion carried unanimously by <br />voice vote 5-0. <br />8. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />A. Future Agenda Items <br />Vice Mayor Hufford suggested the possibility of a resolution from the City Commission supporting Seminole <br />State College's proposal for purchasing property and building a facility in support of the arts within the City of <br />Casselberry. After a brief discussion, the Commission agreed by consensus that the City Manager and staff <br />should work with Seminole State College staff to draft a resolution which reflected both the City's and the <br />College's views about the proposed project and which acknowledged the City's support for the project. Mr. <br />Newlon advised he would work with staff and bring a resolution back for the Commission's consideration. <br />B. Municipal Advisory Committee (Metroplan) Report <br />No report. <br />
