CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />Distributed a litigation update to the Commission and requested that the Commissioners contact her <br />with any questions. <br />Advised that a settlement offer had been submitted to the City from the Plaintiffs in the Pleasants case, <br />and distributed some material outlining the proposed offer to the Commission. She advised that the <br />proposed offer totaled approximately $110,000, including salary, retirement pay, and reimbursement <br />of attorneys' fees. Ms. Reischmann advised that her firm was recommending that the City decline to <br />accept the offer, as in Sunshine Law litigation the Plaintiff is only allowed to recover attorneys' fees <br />and the City's liability would only be approximately $20,000; however, her firm did not believe that <br />even the $20,000 was supported by the facts of the case. <br />MOTION: Vice Mayor Hufford moved that the City decline the settlement offer submitted <br />by the Plaintiff in Pleasants vs. City of Casselberry, Case No. 2012 -CA -5358-16- <br />G, as recommended by the City Attorney. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 3-0. <br />• Requested an attorney-client session relating to Pleasants vs. City of Casselberry, Case No. 2012 -CA - <br />5358 -16-G, be held on July 28, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. and that the attorney-client session relating to the <br />red light camera issue which was requested at the June 23, 2014 Commission meeting, be scheduled <br />for 3:00 p.m. on July 28, 2014. <br />16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT <br />No report. <br />17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />• Stated she had received a call from Mindy Colton, the artist who sculpted the horse sculpture in the <br />park, inquiring about the City's interest in purchasing the sculpture. Mr. Newlon advised he had <br />directed Linda Moore to contact her. <br />Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />Reported that the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce was holding its HobNob on Wednesday, July <br />16, 2014 at Lyman High School from 5:30-8:30 p.m. She advised there would be 26 candidates <br />present at the event and urged everyone to attend, as it was a good opportunity to get some insight into <br />the candidates on the local and state levels, including judicial candidates. <br />Advised she had met with Kathy Till of Florida League of Cities earlier in the day and had a <br />discussion on upcoming legislative issues.
