CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of July 14, 2014 — Regular Meeting Page 12 of 15 15. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT Distributed a litigation update to the Commission and requested that the Commissioners contact her with any questions. Advised that a settlement offer had been submitted to the City from the Plaintiffs in the Pleasants case, and distributed some material outlining the proposed offer to the Commission. She advised that the proposed offer totaled approximately $110,000, including salary, retirement pay, and reimbursement of attorneys' fees. Ms. Reischmann advised that her firm was recommending that the City decline to accept the offer, as in Sunshine Law litigation the Plaintiff is only allowed to recover attorneys' fees and the City's liability would only be approximately $20,000; however, her firm did not believe that even the $20,000 was supported by the facts of the case. MOTION: Vice Mayor Hufford moved that the City decline the settlement offer submitted by the Plaintiff in Pleasants vs. City of Casselberry, Case No. 2012 -CA -5358-16- G, as recommended by the City Attorney. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 3-0. • Requested an attorney-client session relating to Pleasants vs. City of Casselberry, Case No. 2012 -CA - 5358 -16-G, be held on July 28, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. and that the attorney-client session relating to the red light camera issue which was requested at the June 23, 2014 Commission meeting, be scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on July 28, 2014. 16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT No report. 17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: • Stated she had received a call from Mindy Colton, the artist who sculpted the horse sculpture in the park, inquiring about the City's interest in purchasing the sculpture. Mr. Newlon advised he had directed Linda Moore to contact her. Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: Reported that the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce was holding its HobNob on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Lyman High School from 5:30-8:30 p.m. She advised there would be 26 candidates present at the event and urged everyone to attend, as it was a good opportunity to get some insight into the candidates on the local and state levels, including judicial candidates. Advised she had met with Kathy Till of Florida League of Cities earlier in the day and had a discussion on upcoming legislative issues. She noted that she would be serving on the Legislative
