Sole Source Purchase and Installation of a Wet Well Pump Station for the Lake <br />Hodge Pump Station Rehabilitation Project and Related Budget Amendment #14-032 <br />Introduction: This item and related Budget Amendment #14-032 provide for consideration of the sole source <br />purchase of a pump station from Smith and Loveless in the amount of $30,829, installation by their only <br />approved installer, Sanders Company, Inc. in the amount of $45,609 and $1,995 for electrical service feed <br />rework for the Lake Hodge Pump Station Rehabilitation project. The total amount is $78,433. <br />Budget Impact: With approval of Budget Amendment #14-032, funds of $78,433 ($30,829 for the purchase <br />of wet well mount pumps, $45,609 for equipment installation and $1,995 for electrical service feed rework) are <br />available in the Public Works Distribution and Collection Machinery and Equipment account #401-0751- <br />536.67-35. <br />BA #14-032 <br />Explanation of Request: This Budget Amendment re -appropriates funding to cover the costs associated with <br />the sole source purchase of wet well mounted pumps, suction and discharge pipes ($30,829) and the renovation <br />of the wet well and electrical service ($46,604) related to the Lake Hodge Pump Station Rehabilitation project. <br />Smith and Loveless is the sole manufacturer of the wet well mounted pumps and Sanders Company, Inc. is the <br />only authorized installer of this particular equipment. Public Works initially budgeted $150,000 for this <br />project. However, this amount was reduced by a total of $75,000 to cover budgetary shortfalls of other projects <br />and alleviated the usage of Fund Balance. Therefore, an additional $3,433 is necessary to ensure adequate <br />funding is available.
