CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 14, 2014 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 18 of 19 <br />Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: <br />Congratulated staff on the positive results of the audit. <br />Commended Chief Harkins and the Fire Department on receiving an ISO (Insurance Services Office, <br />Inc.) rating of 3, which he noted was a significant upgrade for the community. Mr. Newlon added <br />that, in fact, the Fire Department had almost achieved a rating of 2 and he planned to have Chief <br />Harkins make a presentation to the Commission at an upcoming meeting explaining all that went into <br />achieving this major accomplishment. <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />• Shared concerns she had received from the President of the Carmel Condominiums Homeowners' <br />Association regarding a LYNX bus stop near the entrance of the development. <br />• Also shared concerns she had received from several residents regarding stray cats and open house and <br />garage sale signs. <br />• Thanked Chief Harkins and Mr. Newlon for assisting her with coordinating a service to honor a New <br />York City firefighter who had died several years ago in the line of duty at age 41. She added that the <br />service would be held at the Chabad Synagogue at 708 Lake Howell Road on April 27, 2014. <br />• Reported she attended the all -day session on the Oxford Road Study on April 3, 2014 and it was an <br />excellent day, with many good suggestions coming out of the meeting. <br />• Visited the Seminole County Historical Museum on April 2, 2014 and enjoyed the presentation on the <br />City of Casselberry's involvement in WWII. She added that she was pleased to see that more <br />information about the City of Casselberry and additional photographs of the City had been added to <br />the museum as she had requested of the museum manager about a year ago. <br />• Thanked all those who had responded to citizens' concerns about the Red Bug Lake Road and Mark <br />David Boulevard intersection. <br />• Advised that in response to a discussion she had with a member of the Seminole County Library <br />Board, she was happy to report that the library building and sign on Oxford Road were being pressure <br />washed. She added that it is her understanding some cleanup effort was currently underway on the <br />Casselberry Post Office property. <br />Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />• Commended the Commissioners on the many community activities in which they are involved. <br />• Thanked Friends of the Park for all the work they have been doing. <br />• Reported she had also attended the Oxford Road Study meeting on April 3, 2014 and was very <br />impressed and encouraged to see the enthusiasm about the area's potential. <br />• Advised she had attended the Arts & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar event on Friday, April <br />11, 2014 and was excited that the event was continuing to grow. <br />• Commended staff on their efforts with the City's events, and also on the success of the City's audit <br />process. <br />• Congratulated Chief Harkins and the Fire Department on receiving an ISO rating of 3, adding that she <br />was very proud of all the Fire Department staff for their excellent work. <br />
