CASSCLBCRRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of March 23, 2020 — Regular Meeting Page 12 of 13 16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT • A brief digital newsletter will be sent out to the public sometime in the next week providing information about Coronavirus. Once the State of Emergency expires, a special issue of the newsletter will be sent out to advise the public about the reactivation of normal activities, such as events and programs. • Certification of election results will not be available until after the Canvassing Board meets, which is believed to be March 29th. Due to it being a federal election, the Board cannot meet to give official certifications until all overseas ballots are received and counted. There may also be some delays even then due to the current situation, but once the official results are received from the Canvassing Board, an item will be brought to the City Commission to certify those results in accordance with the City's Charter. 17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS Commissioner Andrew Meadows - Seat No. 2: • Congratulated the Finance Department team for their work on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. • Congratulated the citizens of Casselberry, staff, and members of the City Commission for the overwhelming passage of the Parks Bond Referendum, stating he was excited and looking forward to getting started on the proposed improvements. •Apologized for being unable to attend the meeting in person due to a bad sinus infection. Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: • Echoed Commissioner Meadows' comments, noting that it was a true testament that the citizens were trusting their City government to move forward with adding program quality into the parks system and the City itself. Also commended all the staff and board members who worked hard to bring the referendum to the voters. • Expressed wishes for all to stay safe during this time. • Advised he had no symptoms but was self -quarantining due to having just returned from a trip. Commissioner Mark Busch - Seat No. 3: • Agreed with the comments from Commissioners Meadows and Aramendia, adding that it was awesome that the referendum passed with an overwhelming majority and he had been pleased with what he considered a really good voter turnout. Expressed thanks to all those who had a part in putting the proposed improvements together for the referendum. • Also expressed wishes for all to stay safe during this time and to remember to keep at a safe distance from others. Stated we would all get through this together.
