Mr. Drew Taylor, 1583 Canterbury Circle, spoke in favor of the proposed enhancements, but <br />suggested that a sign should also be put at the intersection of Canterbury and Avalon, as the <br />proposed entrance to the park could not be seen from there. <br />2. Mr. Walt Bagley, 614 Doheny Way, expressed concern about the size of the proposed <br />pavilions and suggested a larger one should be considered which could have rental potential <br />as a revenue source for the City. <br />No one else came forward. <br />Discussion: Discussion ensued amongst the City Commissioners, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />members, the consultants and staff regarding the various proposed elements of the park, including: <br />maintenance requirements for the sensory garden; access to the park amenities for maintenance purposes; use <br />of the sensory garden for educational purposes in addition to use by those with disabilities; ADA compliance; <br />size of the proposed splash pad compared to the one in Lake Concord Park; walkability; concerns about <br />weight limit and maintenance of the proposed zip line; grade challenges; concerns about retaining green <br />space; concerns that the park was originally designed to be a neighborhood park and the need for being <br />sensitive to the surrounding neighborhoods; possibility of utilizing green space for temporary tents, etc. for <br />events; potential for grants related to stormwater treatment and recreation; parking concerns and possibility <br />for overflow parking in the grass areas as a solution; retaining wall and grade challenges/constraints; <br />educational aspects of the park; balance of proposed activities to be available within the park; possibility of <br />markers along trails/exercise stations for measuring of distances walked; concerns about park entrance design; <br />concerns about costs for each element; and concerns about the possibility of an increase in traffic and effect <br />on surrounding neighborhoods. <br />B. "Wheel Park — Casselberry" <br />Presentation: Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer Kelly Brock introduced Mr. Cas Suvongse with <br />SK Consortium, Inc, the consultant selected for preparation of the Park Master Plans for both the new "Wheel <br />Park — Casselberry" and Secret Lake Park. Mr. Suvongse introduced his team members, Mr. Chris Rice, a <br />landscape architect with Borrelli & Partners, Inc. and Mr. Tim Payne with the skate park design specialist <br />firm Team Pain Enterprises, Inc. Mr. Suvongse advised that the concept for "Wheel Park" was completely <br />different than the one in the previous presentation, as this was a brand-new site which was quite challenging <br />because it is a long and linear park site with a cut -through in the middle. He then gave a presentation <br />highlighting the amenities contained in the Wheel Park conceptual plan which included the following <br />components: <br />- Area City Park Map <br />- Existing Park Amenities & Land Use Maps <br />- Inspiration Images <br />- Conceptual Master Plan with Plan Legend & showing site amenities <br />o Parking <br />o Bike/skate flowbowl & snake run area <br />o Bike/skate park <br />o Bike/skate street area <br />0 Playground <br />
