Resolution 19-3128 — Terminating the Declaration of a State of Public Emergenc
The City Clerk read Resolution 19-3128 by title, as follows:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY,
FLORIDA, TERMINATING THE DECLARATION OF A STATE OF PUBLIC EMERGENCY
PREVIOUSLY APPROVED AND EXTENDED INDEFINITELY BY RESOLUTION 19-3126;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
Staff Presentation: City Manager Randy Newlon advised that he had declared a State of Public Emergency
as of 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2019 due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Dorian and that
the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) had been activated in response to this anticipated weather
emergency. A Special City Commission Meeting was held on September 1, 2019 at which time the City
Commission approved Resolution 19-3121 extending indefinitely that State of Public Emergency.
However, the City of Casselberry, along with Seminole County in total, were extremely fortunate to only
experience minimal impacts from Hurricane Dorian on September 3 and 4, 2019 and no recovery efforts
were required by the City after the storm. Therefore, Resolution 19-3128 provides for the termination of
the City Managers' Declaration of a State of Public Emergency related to Hurricane Dorian.
The City's Incident Commander Police Chief Larry Krantz then gave a brief overview of the storm
preparation efforts made by the City. The City Commissioners and Mr. Newlon expressed appreciation to
staff for a job well done in preparing for the storm, adding they were grateful that it had turned out well
with no serious impacts from the storm.
Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget.
Recommendation: The City Manager recommended approval of Resolution 19-3128.
Audience Participation: No one came forward to address the Commission regarding Resolution 19-3128.
MOTION: Vice Mayor Aramendia moved to approve Resolution 19-3128, as presented.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Busch.
