CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of May 13, 2019 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 8 of 19 <br />M. Application for Department of Justice Assistance Bulletproof Vest Partnership <br />Grant Award FY 19 <br />Introduction: Approval of submittal of an application through the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. <br />Department of Justice, to the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program which applies for grant funding to <br />partially fund bullet -resistant body armor approved by the National Institute of Justice for designated use <br />by the City of Casselberry is requested. <br />Budget Impact: Submitting the application for the grant creates no impact to the City Budget. Funds have <br />been budgeted and are currently available in the FY 2019 Budget in the Police Department Operating <br />Supplies account #001-0610-521.52-00. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval to participate in the <br />grant application for FYI grant funds. <br />N. Application for Florida Department of Environmental Protection Sand and Grit <br />Removal Grant for Wastewater Treatment Facilities <br />Introduction: Approval of submittal of an application to the Florida Department of Environmental <br />Protection (FDEP) for the Sand and Grit Removal Grant for Wastewater Treatment Facilities which applies <br />for grant funds to be used for the cleaning of Plant #1 at the City's Water Reclamation Facility is requested. <br />Budget Impact: Submitting the application for the grant creates no immediate impact to the City Budget. <br />However, upon approval by FDEP, a 50% match is required. Funds are currently available in the FY 2019 <br />Water Reclamation Repair and Maintenance account #401-0753-535.46-00 to allocate the match and allow <br />expenditures on a reimbursement basis. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works Director recommended approval to submit <br />an application to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the Sand and Grit Removal Grant <br />for Wastewater Treatment Facilities for the cleaning of Plant #1 at the City's Water Reclamation Facility. <br />O. Application for the FY18 County -Wide Edward Byrne Justice Assistance <br />Memorial Grant <br />Introduction: Approval of an application to participate in the FYI County -Wide Edward Byrne <br />Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which <br />may result in a grant award of up to $18,060 is requested. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget at this time. A budget amendment will be prepared <br />upon receipt of the grant funds. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval to participate in the <br />Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program by applying for available grant funds. <br />
