CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of April 8, 2019 — Regular Meeting
Page 11 of 13
CONSENSUS: After discussion, the City Commission agreed by consensus to provide the
following direction to staff:
1. Direct the City's consultant to investigate the feasibility of constructing a
roundabout at the intersection of Wilshire Drive and South Winter Park
rather than the planned traffic signal improvements;
2. Continue with the approved plans for bicycle/pedestrian improvements to
Winter Park Drive, such as filling in sidewalk gaps and upgrading the
intersections at Queens Mirror Circle and Crystal Bowl Circle while the
roundabout study is being done; and
3. Report back to the City Commission with the results of the consultant's
roundabout study when it has been completed.
A. Notification of Demolition of Houses Located at 840 N. Triplet Lake Drive and 661
N. Winter Park Drive
Staff Presentation: Community Development Director Chris Bowley advised the City Commission that
after working with the City Attorney's office to ensure proper legal procedures have been followed and
legal notice given, staff is now coordinating the demolition of houses located at 840 N. Triplet Lake Drive
and 661 N. Winter Park Drive, as both structures have been determined to be unsafe due to a damaged roof
system with interior damage due to water intrusion, and fire damage, respectively. The City has received
quotes to demolish and haul away the debris in the amounts of $10,260.00 for 840 N. Triplet Lake Drive
and $5,200 for 661 N. Winter Park Drive and both can be completed with currently budgeted Fiscal Year
2019 funds.
Budget Impact: Funds are available in Code Compliance Other Contractual Services — Property
Maintenance account #001-0222-524.34-10.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director wish to advise that the
homes at 840 N. Triplet Lake Dr. and 661 N. Winter Park Dr. are planned for demolition.
Discussion: A brief discussion ensued during which Mr. Bowley explained the circumstances which had
made both structures uninhabitable, and advised that the single family residence at 840 N. Triplet Lake
Drive would be demolished down to the slab. Funding will be budgeted to continue abatement of any
landscaping issues with the properties.
Mr. Newlon concluded his report by advising he had been pleased to attend the Central Florida Top Brewer
Beer Festival on April 61" and congratulated Vice Mayor Aramendia and Friends of the Park on the success
of the event.
15. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
No report.
