(d) Adjustments will be made based on whether the adjustment is requested for
proven increased water consumption, or for unexplained or unintended increased
water consumption:
1. For proven increased water consumption:
a. All customers requesting an adjustment to water or sewer bills for
water leaks must submit an Adjustment Request Application within
45 days from the date of repair, including proof of repair of the leak.
The consumption period to be adjusted cannot exceed two
consecutive billing cycles. Customers are eligible for one increased
consumption adjustment per 12 month period. Additional
adjustments may be considered by the City Manager, or his/her
designee, based on exigent circumstances.
b. (i) For consideration of a sewer adjustment, the consumption
should be close to double the average consumption for the
account for the past 12 months.
1 A -For _consideration of a potable water adiustment. the potable
water consumption should be close to double the account
average for the past 12 months.
(iii) The adjustment will reduce the water or sewer bill to the
lowest tiered rate provided in the code for the total amount
used.
C. The customer will be notified in writing within 10 business days from
the date of submittal of a complete Adjustment Request Application
whether the Adjustment Request Application qualifies for a utility bill
adjustment, and, if so, the amount of the adjustment.
2. For unexplained or unintended increased water consumption.
a. All customers who do not have proof of a water leak through a repair
bill but who are requesting an adjustment to water or sewer bills for
unexplained or unintended increased consumption, must submit an
Adjustment Request Application within 30 days of the date of the bill
in question. The adjustment request will not be processed until it is
confirmed that the following month's usage has returned back to
average consumption. The adjustment will reduce the water or sewer
bill to the lowest tiered rate provided in the code for the total amount
used. Any adjustment made by the City for the unexplained or
unintended consumption will be for one billing cycle only. The
adjustment is only available one time every three years, and is only
available for either water or sewage usage, not any other utility
service.
