CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of February 12, 2018 — Workshop <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />Cantilever awning to cover back patio area of the Recreation Center <br />Cost estimate to develop and construct all enhancements is $2.5 million <br />Wirz Park <br />City Commission assigned tentative amount of: <br />1. $ 1,500,000 to enhance water amenities and parking area <br />Staff recommendations: <br />• Expansion of existing community building to include prep/kitchen area and additional storage <br />• Improve bath/pool house <br />• Eliminate 3 ballfields and replace with 2 multi-purpose fields <br />• Consider 25 meter pool with 5 swim lanes and shade structures <br />• New large splash pad 8000+ square feet <br />• 2 additional pavilions near splash pad <br />• Relocate basketball court <br />• Extend parking lot area into the grassy area south of the community building near the existing <br />parking lot area <br />• Cost estimate: $2.5 to $3 million to develop and construct <br />Dew Drop Park <br />City Commission assigned tentative amount of: <br />1. $ 500,000 to make improvements <br />Staff findings: <br />• Tentative funding in the amount of $500,000 can be used to demolish and remove half <br />basketball court and tennis court <br />• Construct new sidewalk providing access and connecting west and east sides of the park <br />• Include Wi-Fi <br />Alternatively, with additional funding, staff recommends: <br />• Park be re -master planned and re -oriented <br />• Closing vehicle access at Avalon Boulevard and develop pedestrian access only <br />• Keep existing restroom and pavilion. Both are being refurbished with new blue metal roofs <br />• Evaluate stormwater issues <br />• Create new park entry with parking area on the far east end off of Canterbury Circle <br />• Additional restroom and pavilion near new entry <br />• Install new playground equipment that is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant <br />• Zip -line <br />
