Planning & Zoning Commission/ <br />Local Planning Agency Minutes <br />March 14, 2018 <br />Page 4 <br />Seventh Item of Business: LPA 17.15: Signs. An amendment to Article XVI, Signs, of Chapter III, performance <br />criteria, of the City of Casselberry Unified Land Development Regulations. <br />Ms. Christina Hyson, Planner I, reviewed the information provided in her memorandum dated March 14, <br />2018, and a PowerPoint presentation to the City of Casselberry Planning and Zoning Commission (a copy of the <br />PowerPoint presentation is attached and made a part of the minutes). Ms. Hyson reviewed Addendum 1 that was <br />distributed to the Planning and Zoning Commission (a copy is attached and made a part of the minutes). <br />Ms. Hyson said staff requests the Planning and Zoning Commission recommend approval of LPA 17-15 and <br />hereby amend Chapter III, Article XVI, Signs, of the City's Unified Land Development Regulations. <br />In response to the Commission's question, Ms. Hyson explained that the size of the LED signs could be a <br />maximum of 4.5 square feet with photocells and a maximum of four characters are allowed on the signs. She gave <br />an example that the sign could display the price of gas. In response to the Commission's question, Ms. Hyson <br />explained that the amount of light allowed for the signage is addressed within the existing sign code. Ms. Hufford <br />expressed a concern that there would be a significant increase in LED signs along the commercial corridor. A brief <br />discussion ensued regarding size of the signs allowed on residential properties. <br />Mr. Henson asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in favor of, or in opposition to, <br />the request. No one came forward. <br />Mr. Henson asked for a motion to address LPA 17-15. Mr. Phillips made a motion that the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission recommend approval of LPA 17-15 and hereby amend Chapter III, Article XVI, Signs, of the <br />City's Unified Land Development Regulations including Attachment A. Mr. Hale seconded the motion. The motion <br />passed unanimously by voice vote. <br />Eighth Item of Business: LPA 18-04: Pharmacy/Medical Marijuana Dispensary Zoning Ordinance.
