City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — December 12, 2017 <br />Audience participation: <br />Mr. Neil Landgrebe, 451 Lilac Road, referenced the City's recent property acquisitions and asked if <br />some of those funds could be used for other community requests such as a skate park or skate <br />spots within the existing parks. He commented that the present park renovations and purchases <br />were good but would hope that the requests for items such as a skate park would also be <br />reviewed. <br />City Manager Newlon responded briefly to clarify that the property acquisitions on Quail Pond <br />Circle were funded by Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and those monies are restricted to <br />projects within the designated redevelopment district. <br />Motion made by Member Nordstrom to recommend that the City Commission make it a priority <br />to acquire additional park space when it becomes available, affordable and feasible. Member <br />Icenhower seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously 4 - 0. <br />2. Recommendation to the City Commission to preserve the "Northeast Industrial Park" properties <br />for future park space. <br />Ms. Moore discussed the site location and that preserving the parcel may help meet the level of <br />service for future growth. <br />Member Icenhower briefly discussed a concern about the current zoning in that area that included <br />adult entertainment as a possible use. Randy Newlon responded to her concerns. Also, she said <br />that she was aware that there were gopher tortoises on the site. Mr. Newlon said that if the site <br />were developed, the tortoises would be protected and relocated. <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. Neil Landgrebe, 451 Lilac Road voiced his concerns about this area but approved of the <br />property being utilized as a park. <br />Member Nordstrom made a motion that the Board recommend to the City Commission to <br />preserve the "Northeast Industrial Park" property for future park space. Member Icenhower <br />seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously 4-0. <br />
