CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of August 28, 2017 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 7 of 14 <br />Commission that staff had been directed to provide feedback from the public workshops which were held <br />addressing the City's sign code relating to both residential and commercial signage. He advised that although <br />nearly 1000 invitations had been sent out for the workshops, attendance had been limited to approximately 10 <br />people for all four workshops combined. He added that a memo and documentation on the feedback received <br />had been provided to the Commissioners through interoffice mail and that staff was not advocating at this time <br />for any changes to the sign code based on the feedback received. After brief discussion amongst the <br />Commissioners relating to concerns brought to Commissioner Solomon's attention and feedback provided <br />from attendees at the workshops, it was the consensus of the Commission that an in-depth review ofthe City's <br />sign ordinance was not necessary at this time. <br />B. Municipal Advisory Committee (Metroplan) Report <br />No report. <br />C. Leadership Seminole Board Report <br />No report. <br />D. Mayors/Managers Group Report <br />Mayor Glancy reported that the group had met on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 and there had been a presentation <br />on a proposed one-year pilot program which would involve each of the cities within Seminole County <br />financially supporting a team to work on ideas for economic development county -wide. In response to a <br />request from Commissioner Hufford, Chief Planner Emily Hanna briefly shared highlights from a book she is <br />currently reading relating to collaborative regional economic development. Mr. Newlon stated he would <br />provide the Commissioners with copies of the informational handouts fiom the meeting and the issue could be <br />discussed further at the next Commission meeting if the Commission was interested. <br />E. Council of Local Governments in Seminole County (CALNO) Report <br />Vice Mayor Aramendia stated the group did not meet until September 6, 2017 so he had no report. However, <br />he did advise that the City of Longwood had decided to withdraw its membership from CALNO. <br />F. Seminole County Redevelopment Planning Agency Report <br />City Clerk Donna Gardner and Mr. Newlon advised that the Seminole County Redevelopment Planning <br />Agency (RPA) had temporarily suspended all operations and the Commission agreed as a whole that the <br />Seminole County Redevelopment Planning Agency Report should be removed from the Commission agenda <br />until such time as operations of the Agency were re -activated. <br />
