CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of January 8, 2018 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 9 of 16 <br />MOTION: Commissioner Hufford moved to approve staffs recommendation that the <br />City acquire additional park land when it becomes available, affordable and <br />feasible, as presented. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. <br />Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 5-0. <br />B. Preservation of the "Northeast Industrial Park" Properties for Future Park <br />Space <br />Staff Presentation: Recreation Manager Linda Moore gave a brief overview of this item, explaining that <br />this was a request for the City Commission to consider preserving the "Northeast Industrial Park" properties <br />for future park space. She stated that the property was located off Winter Park Drive in the northeast portion <br />of the City and the City had purchased the property in 2006 but had received minimal interest to purchase <br />the property for development. She added that preserving the 10 -acre industrial park site for park space <br />would help to meet the demand for future growth, noting that the Parks, Recreation, Pathways and Open <br />Spaces Master Plan had identified the north side of the City as deficient in services but having the largest <br />concentration of youth. She advised that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board had at its regular <br />meeting on December 12, 2017 unanimously voted to recommend that the City Commission preserve the <br />"Northeast Industrial Park" properties for future park space. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City budget. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommended that <br />the City Commission preserve the "Northeast Industrial Park" property for future park space. <br />Audience Participation: No one came forward to address this item. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Aramendia moved to approve the recommendation to preserve <br />the "Northeast Industrial Park" properties for future park space, as <br />presented. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried <br />unanimously by voice vote 5-0. <br />C. Complete Master Site Plans for Identified Existing Parks before Pursuing <br />Major Service Enhancements <br />Staff Presentation: Recreation Manager Linda Moore gave an overview of this item, explaining that it <br />was a request for the City Commission to consider approving the recommendation that complete master <br />site plans be prepared for six (6) identified existing parks before pursuing major service enhancements. <br />She noted that a number of parks in the system identified for master planning addressed key issues, such as <br />accessibility, limited parking, outdated facilities and uses, and the Parks, Recreation, Pathways and Open <br />Spaces Master Plan had identified Lake Concord Park, Secret Lake Park, Wirz Park, Dew Drop Park, and <br />Forest Brook Park as those needing master plans. In addition, staff had also identified Sunnytown Park to <br />be master planned as a neighborhood park with updated facilities and uses. She briefly highlighted some <br />of the enhancements proposed for the parks which included future development of City properties adjacent <br />to Lake Concord Park and expansion of the boardwalk; development of multi-purpose fields and improved <br />
