CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of January 8, 2018 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 8 of 16 <br />MOTION: Commissioner Solomon moved to approve Resolution 18-3003, as amended. <br />Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. Acquisition of Additional Park Land When it Becomes Available, <br />Affordable and Feasible <br />Staff Presentation: Recreation Manager Linda Moore gave a brief overview of this item explaining that <br />this was a request for the City Commission to consider making it a priority to acquire additional park land <br />when it becomes available, affordable and feasible. She noted that the City Commission had approved and <br />accepted the Parks, Recreation, Pathways and Open Spaces Master Plan prepared by the Tindale Oliver <br />Design Group at its July 24, 2017 meeting and the Master Plan had provided a detailed assessment of the <br />current state of the parks system and was a conceptual blueprint for improving, sustaining and enhancing <br />the parks system by identifying specific projects or programs that the City may seek to move forward. She <br />advised that at a joint meeting with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on November 15, 2017 <br />guidance was requested on four primary questions in order to move forward with implementing the Parks, <br />Recreation, Pathways and Open Spaces Master Plan and added that the Master Plan had identified the need <br />to address a current level of service deficiency of 42 acres and the need for acquisition of an additional 80 <br />acres to keep up with needs in response to projected population growth. She concluded by advising that <br />the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board at its regular meeting on December 12, 2017 had unanimously <br />voted to recommend that the City Commission make it a priority to acquire additional park land when it <br />becomes available, affordable and feasible. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommended that <br />the City Commission make it a priority to acquire additional park land when it becomes available, <br />affordable and feasible. <br />Audience Participation: No one came forward to address this item. <br />
