Motion carried unanimously
by voice vote 5-0.
A. Ordinance 17-1470 — Future Land Use Map Amendment for Property Located at 3 80
West Melody Lane LPA 17-08)
The Acting City Clerk read Ordinance 17-1470 by title as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, TO AMEND THE CITY OF
CASSELBERRY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN BY AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP,
AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE DESIGNATION FROM INDUSTRIAL, TO COMMERCIAL
FOR THE PARCEL LOCATED IN THE VICINITY OF ANCHOR ROAD AND WEST MELODY
LANE AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION I OF THIS ORDINANCE, PARCEL ID 08-21-30-5BL-EF00-
0060; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
Staff Presentation: Planner Dean Fathelbab gave a brief overview of Ordinance 17-1470 explaining that the
purpose of the ordinance was to amend the firture land use map designation for the property located at 380
West Melody Lane from City of Casselberry Industrial (I) to City of Casselberry Commercial (C). He advised
that the property owner and applicant the German American Society of Central Florida had recently purchased
the subject property for the purpose of expanding the outdoor seating area for organization events and to
provide additional parking for their volunteers and members. He added that they currently own two parcels to
the south which both have a Commercial future land use designation and the proposed fixture land use map
amendment was being provided to accommodate these commercial uses and to ensure consistent fixture land
use map designations across the applicant's abutting properties. Findings provided in the Planning and Zoning
Commission staff report concluded that the proposed future land use map amendment of Commercial was
consistent with the City's Comprehensive Plan, compatible with the surrounding mix of uses and zoning
districts, and that City services were available and would not be negatively impacted. If first reading is
approved by the City Commission on September 25, 2017, a public hearing and second reading will be
scheduled for October 30, 2017.
Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended approval of
Ordinance 17-1470 on first reading.
Audience Participation: No one carne forward to address Ordinance 17-1470.
MOTION: Commissioner Meadows moved to approve Ordinance 17-1470 on first reading,
as presented.
