CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of August 14, 2017 — Regular Meeting
Page 8 of 13
A. Future Agenda Items
Commissioner Solomon suggested that a future workshop for further discussion of the City's sign ordinance
would be appropriate, citing calls she had received from business owners with concerns about the ordinance
being too restrictive and not business -friendly and noting she also shared some of these concerns. Mr. Newlon
advised that two public workshops on commercial signage were being held on Tuesday, August 25, 2017 and it
may be best to wait to see what feedback was received at those workshops before moving to additional
discussion on the issue. Ms. Reischmann also reminded the Commission of two issues which would affect a
workshop to consider additional changes to the sign ordinance and those were the history of the Commission's
efforts to restrict signage to maintain the City's beautiful appearance and the Supreme Court decision which
basically tied cities' hands in how signs are regulated. After a brief discussion, it was agreed that staff should
report back to the City Manager on feedback received in the two scheduled public workshops and he would
share that information with the Commission at the next regular meeting, at which time a decision could be
made as to whether a need for a Commission workshop was indicated.
B.
