Mayors/Managers Group Report <br />Mayor Glancy advised she and Mr. Newlon had attended the meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 and there <br />had been two presentations: one about the "Gift for Teaching" program in Seminole County wherein corporate <br />partners help to stock a free store where teachers of students from low-income families can shop for school <br />supplies and other items to benefit the students and their families; and the other about the critical need for <br />funding for the "Kids House" in Seminole County, which provides multiple services for families of abuse. <br />E. Resolution 17-2957 — Wireless Communication Facilities and Telecommunication <br />Towers in Public Rights of Way <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 17-2957 by title as follows: <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING AND <br />CONFIRMING LEGISLATION IN PROGRESS REGARDING WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS <br />FACILITIES AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS TOWERS AND ANTENNAS IN PUBLIC RIGHTS <br />OF WAY; PROVIDING FOR LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS; RECOGNIZING LEGISLATION IN <br />PROGRESS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE." <br />Staff Presentation: Community Development Director Randy Woodruff gave a brief overview of Resolution <br />17-2957, explaining that due to legislative changes pertaining to wireless communications due to new <br />technologies, the City is looking at evaluating its Code to address this constantly evolving technology. He <br />advised that staff was currently looking at using the City of Orlando's approach to telecommunications towers <br />and devices within its rights of way as a model. He noted that this resolution would allow staff to conduct the <br />necessary research of other jurisdictions and evaluate their findings in order to present proposed regulations to <br />the Commission over the next couple of months. City Attorney Reischmann added that she and staff were <br />looking for direction from the City Commission about pursuing this approach and using the City of Orlando as <br />a model in order to have a plan in place in the event permit applications for placement of telecommunications <br />
