CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 24, 2017 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 10 of 13 <br />Balta Cook, Mr. Justin Eason, Ms. Christina Hyson and Ms. Sharisse Kenney, who gave a PowerPoint <br />presentation to the City Commission detailing the proposed Health Element for the City's Comprehensive Plan, <br />which included the following elements: <br />Background <br />Studio Planning Process <br />Foundation Research <br />o Air Quality <br />o Water Quality <br />o Food Environment <br />o Social Justice & Equity <br />o Social Capital <br />o Physical Activity <br />o Community Safety <br />o Mental Health <br />o Environment & Housing <br />• Casselberry Demographics <br />• Community Health Indicators <br />o Natural Environment Quality <br />o Built Environment Quality <br />o Social & Economic Factors <br />o Health Behaviors <br />o Health Outcomes <br />• Engagement & Observation <br />• Comprehensive Plan Audit <br />Key Findings <br />• Healthy Community Element <br />• Data & Element Development <br />Discussion: A brief discussion ensued regarding how the Capstone Class program worked and how <br />participating cities or organizations were selected; some of the projects completed by the previous classes; <br />statistics which were provided in the report and survey results; the fact that many of the proposed goals related <br />to concerns which had been previously expressed by the Commission; presentation of new goals which had not <br />yet been a focus for the City; and the great working relationship between the City of Casselberry staff and the <br />UCF Capstone Class students. <br />The Commissioners extended their best wishes for success to the students and thanked them for presenting the <br />proposed Health Element for inclusion in the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended accepting the <br />report as presented and approving the addition of a new Health Element within the City's Comprehensive Plan <br />based upon specific goals, objectives, and policies defined therein. <br />
