CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of April 24, 2017 — Regular Meeting Page 10 of 13 Balta Cook, Mr. Justin Eason, Ms. Christina Hyson and Ms. Sharisse Kenney, who gave a PowerPoint presentation to the City Commission detailing the proposed Health Element for the City's Comprehensive Plan, which included the following elements: Background Studio Planning Process Foundation Research o Air Quality o Water Quality o Food Environment o Social Justice & Equity o Social Capital o Physical Activity o Community Safety o Mental Health o Environment & Housing • Casselberry Demographics • Community Health Indicators o Natural Environment Quality o Built Environment Quality o Social & Economic Factors o Health Behaviors o Health Outcomes • Engagement & Observation • Comprehensive Plan Audit Key Findings • Healthy Community Element • Data & Element Development Discussion: A brief discussion ensued regarding how the Capstone Class program worked and how participating cities or organizations were selected; some of the projects completed by the previous classes; statistics which were provided in the report and survey results; the fact that many of the proposed goals related to concerns which had been previously expressed by the Commission; presentation of new goals which had not yet been a focus for the City; and the great working relationship between the City of Casselberry staff and the UCF Capstone Class students. The Commissioners extended their best wishes for success to the students and thanked them for presenting the proposed Health Element for inclusion in the Comprehensive Plan. Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended accepting the report as presented and approving the addition of a new Health Element within the City's Comprehensive Plan based upon specific goals, objectives, and policies defined therein.
