CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
Gave a brief update on her research into tattoo regulations which she had done in response to
the Commission's request. She advised she had not yet heard back from everyone, but it
appeared most of the cities had amended their codes previously in reaction to prior case law
which had held that tattoo establishments were first amendment businesses. She stated that in
Ft. Lauderdale, these establishments were permitted in almost every commercial area of the
city, and in Altamonte Springs they were not listed as a permitted use, but each request was
handled on a case by case basis. She noted that she had not yet heard from everyone and
would bring a more detailed report to the next Commission meeting. In response to questions
from Commissioner Solomon regarding vapor cigarette establishments, Mr. Newlon advised
that staff had done some research and found that these establishments were distributed
throughout the City and not concentrated in any one area; however, they would have to look
into it further if the Commission desired the City to further regulate or restrict these types of
businesses.
No report.
Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
