Screen utility equipment with landscaping not to hinder the equipment or access to the <br />equipment. <br />8. Partner with Public Works Department to create and organize a neighborhood cleanup program <br />quarterly or twice a year where residents can: <br />a. Discard household items that are normally not picked up by garbage trucks. <br />b. Discard hazardous products like paint, oil, batteries, lightbulbs, etc. <br />C. Residents and employees pick up trash and debris around the neighborhood, in rights of <br />way, in parks, etc. <br />Organize community walks with City department heads to look at issues in the community. <br />a. Coordinate with each neighborhood district to walk their neighborhood streets with <br />department heads and elected leaders to determine issues and create strategies on <br />solving those issues. <br />b. Janeswalk.org is an example of this type of program currently taking place around the <br />world. <br />Mayor Glancy passed the gavel to Vice Mayor Hufford and left the Commission Chambers at 7 :29 p.m. <br />Mayor Glancy returned to the Chambers at 7 :32 p.m. <br />10. Organize a "Fix up the Community" campaign twice a year. <br />a. Partner with Housing organizations to paint homes for seniors, disabled individuals, or <br />low income neighbors who need help with minor repairs to their home. <br />b. Orange County currently operates a similar program and paints as many as 60 homes <br />per year. <br />Commissioner Aramendia called attention to Ms. Hanna's experience with implementing and managing thesetypes <br />of strategies previously in Orange County. Ms. Hanna then went through each of the proposed strategies, giving <br />examples and noting specifics about each one. She noted that the linear park along Palm Drive from the <br />intersections of Marigold to Hibiscus Roads which had not yet commenced was being considered for prioritimtion <br />in the Multimodal Transportation Master Plan that Public Works hoped to bring the Commission for consideration <br />later in 2016. She advised that the Multimodal Master Plan would also identify pedestrian, bicycle and golf cart <br />connectivity throughout the City, and would identify which intersections were the most feasible for the brick <br />pavers. She also noted that the Parks Master Plan which was slated to begin development this year would look at <br />future projects, including the golf course and potential connectivity to the trails in the City. <br />Discussion: Lengthy discussion ensued regarding details of each strategy as it was presented, with the <br />Commission providing feedback and guidance for staff on each. <br />
