CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of February 9, 2015 — Regular Meeting
Page 12 of 14
Mayor Glancy advised that the time had not yet reach 5:00 p.m., so the Commission could either take a short
recess and then re- convene after 5:00 for the public hearing, or remain in session and continue with additional
discussion. The Commission agreed as whole to continue with general discussion.
Discussion: A brief discussion ensued touching on various items, including the peace and tranquility of the
City's lake systems due to the regulations the City had put in place, and the Bowling Green bowling
tournament sponsored as a fundraiser by Leadership Seminole which would be held at Altamonte AMY Lanes
on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 12:00 -3:00 p.m. Mr. Newlon asked any interested Commissioner to provide
information to his assistant Judi Romboli. Commissioner Meadows thanked Commissioner Hufford and City
Clerk Donna Gardner for their work on hosting the CALNO meeting. Ms. Reischmann confirmed that the
arbitration in the Pleasants case would be on April 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., and that all those who were
individually named in the lawsuit should have received notice and would be expected to appear. She also
noted that she anticipated receiving a ruling on the City's Motion for Summary Judgment prior to that date.
Ms. Gardner and Ms. Reischmann clarified for the Commission that although there is no statutory requirement
to give notice when a Commissioner attends an event that another may also attend, the notices were being
prepared at the direction of the Commission as a means of protection against any perceived wrongdoing. Ms.
Gardner reiterated her request that the Commissioners provide her with notice of any events they may be
attending and she could then identify whether more than one planned to go, which would then be the catalyst
for preparation of a notice.
In response to questions from the Commission, Mr. Newlon advised that he was still working on setting a date
for the Commission's planning retreat. He stated he was looking at some time in March, and after discussion,
it was determined that some of the Commissioners would not be available for the first and last week, so the
choice was narrowed to the second and third weeks. Mr. Newlon stated that he would notify the Commission
when it was scheduled, and that if anyone had specific planning issues they wished to discuss, they could pass
those to him for inclusion on the agenda. Vice Mayor Solomon shared that there was a resident of Carriage
Hill, Mrs. Betty Belknap, who had just celebrated her 90`l' birthday and still walked five miles per day.
11.
