CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of August 24, 2015 — Regular Meeting
Page 5 of 20
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works Director recommended approval of Resolution
15 -2775.
G. Resolution 15-2776 — Change Order No 1 to the Construction Agreement with AJC
Construction LLC for the South Triplet Lake Drive Improvements Project and
Related Budget Amendment #15 -053
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA,
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE
AGREEMENT WITH AJC CONSTRUCTION, LLC FOR THE SOUTH TRIPLET LAKE DRIVE
PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE."
Introduction: Resolution 15 -2776 approves Change Order No. 1 to the Construction Agreement between the
City of Casselberry and AJC Construction, LLC for construction of the South Triplet Lake Drive
Improvements project in the amount of $69,110.31, and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on
behalf of the City. Consideration of related Budget Amendment #15 -053 is also requested.
Budget Impact: The budget for this project included a built -in 10% contingency as follows: $67,683.64
(paving); $16,305.36 (stormwater); and $21,528.38 (utility). Change Order No. I provides for an overall
additional increase of $69,110.31 ($27,581.45 for additional utility work; a deduction of $2,731.14 related to
stormwater work; and an additional $44,260.01 for paving). The charges related to utility work exceed the
budgeted contingency amount by $6,053.07. Therefore, Budget Amendment #15 -03 is necessary to re-
appropriate ample funding by decreasing the Distribution and Collection Repair & Maintenance/Emergency
Repairs account (401- 0751 - 536.46 -05) by $6,054 and increasing the Capital Improvements Fund Water &
Sewer Infrastructure account (305 - 0751 - 536.63 -40) by $6,054.
BA #15 -053
Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to re- appropriate funding to cover costs
associated with additional utility work, as outlined in Change Order No. 1 with AJC Construction, LLC,
related to the South Triplet Lake Drive Improvements Project. Change Order No. 1 provides for additional
unanticipated work in the project area that totals $69,110.31 (- $2,731.14 for stormwater, $44,260.01 for
paving, and $27,581.45 for utility work). A 10% contingency was built in for Stormwater, Paving and Utility
work. The Stormwater and Paving contingency budget ($16,305.36 and $67,683.04, respectively) is sufficient
to cover its portion of Change Order No. 1. However, utility work, as outlined in Change Order No. 1, exceeds
the budgeted contingency of $21,528.38 by $6,053.07. Therefore an additional $6,053.07 is necessary. This
budget amendment will provide sufficient funding to perform this work.
Account Number Account Description Amount
Increase:
305- 0751 - 536.63 -40 Water & Sewer Infrastructure $6,054
(S. Triplet Lake Dr. Improvements
Project)
305- 0000 - 381.04 -00 Transfer from Fund 401 $6,054
