OTHER ITEMS <br />A. Casselton Drive Improvements Project Presentation and Discussion <br />Staff Presentation: Assistant Public Works Director /City Engineer Kelly Brock gave a PowerPoint <br />presentation on the preliminary plan for the Casselton Drive Improvements Project which included the <br />following components: <br />Project Objectives <br />Stormwater: Repair/replace major storm pipe trunk line; other drainage <br />improvements as feasible <br />Water Utility Improvements: Replace major water main <br />Roadway Rehabilitation & Improvements: Resurface road and construct "complete <br />street" improvements <br />Preliminary Plan <br />Narrows Casselton Dr (to Greencastle Blvd) <br />Reduces on- street parking and designates specific locations <br />Fills in sidewalk gaps /replaces sidewalk <br />Adds "park" and stormwater treatment areas to west side <br />Dr. Brock explained that the current preliminary plan did not depict all the specific features such as exact <br />stormwater, park and landscaping features, pedestrian crosswalks & striping details, or finalized sidewalk size <br />and alignment; however those would all be included in the final plan and he was seeking input and a consensus <br />from the Commission on several of the key elements. He then advised that staff was currently recommending <br />the following: <br />- Narrowing Casselton Drive fi•om its current width of approximately 55 ft. to the more typical <br />24 ft. width; <br />- Reducing on- street parking which is currently on the west side and moving the parking to the <br />east side; <br />- Filling in sidewalk gaps; <br />- Increasing the stormwater treatment area and creating a linear park. <br />
