CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April 22, 2013 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 13 of 14 <br />I <br />® Reminded the Commission that National Volunteer Week was being celebrated this week and the <br />City's annual Board Appreciation Dinner for its volunteers would be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 at <br />7:00 p.m. at the Country Club at Deer Run. <br />Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: <br />• Reported that he had attended several activities in the past week, including Relay for Life; the Time <br />Capsule Ceremony at the library on Oxford Road; the Fire Department promotion ceremony; and the <br />last celebration for the Seminole County Centennial. He added that all were very successful events. <br />• Reminded the Commission of Earth Fest on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 12:00 -6:00 p.m., with the <br />Mayor's Proclamation at 12:00 p.m. and the Drop Savers presentations at 1:30 p.m. in the Chambers. <br />Commissioner Gene Fly — Seat No. 2: <br />• Expressed concerns about what he perceived to be inappropriate comments made from the dais earlier <br />in the meeting and at previous meetings after citizens address the Commission. <br />Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />• Reported that the meeting was held in Apopka and the speaker was Virginia Whittington, who gave an <br />education presentation about fielding. <br />• Attended the Relay for Life and the Time Capsule events which were very successful. Added that her <br />granddaughters had attended the Time Capsule event with her. <br />• Reminded the Commission that the Chamber of Commerce would be meeting on May 1, 2013 at <br />Gallery J and would be presenting scholarships to students from Lake Howell and Lake Mary High <br />Schools. <br />• Gave an update on the Florida League of Cities Advocacy Program and pending legislation relating to <br />various issues, including pain management clinics; collection of stormwater fees; fertilizer safety <br />regulations; Sunrail billboards; community development block grants; property liens; red light <br />cameras; communications tax; business regulatory tax; sovereign immunity; and pension reform. <br />Vice Mayor Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />• Advised she had seen a billboard and several signs recently opposing the 17 -92 flyover, and that there <br />was a meeting scheduled at the Jai Alai on April 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. regarding the issue. <br />• Suggested she would like the Commission to consider a future workshop relating to annexations, to <br />further discuss the issues brought up at the Strategic Planning Workshop. <br />
