CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of Judy 22, 2013 — Regular Meeting
Page 13 of 14
email accounts to avoid the possibility of situations such as this.
Advised of a new statute relating to some of the citizens' comments earlier in the meeting. She stated
that if a city is named as a defendant in a foreclosure proceeding due to a code enforcement lien, the
city has the option of filing a motion to request the Judge to issue an order to show cause why the
action is not proceeding in a timely manner. She noted this would not necessarily be appropriate in all
cases and would be at the Commission's discretion, but would possibly be an additional tool which
could be used to speed up the process of resolving some of these issues.
Discussion: A brief discussion ensued regarding the approximate cost involved in pursuing this option;
whether other cities were using this and what the success rates were; and in which types of cases this might be
appropriate.
No report.
Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1:
• Reported he had attended the Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar event last week and it
was well attended.
• Requested that there be some discussion of the concerns expressed earlier in the meeting by the
Camelot residents at the end of Commissioners' reports.
Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2:
Thanked the residents of the Camelot subdivision who had shared their concerns, stating he
understood their frustrations and the City could possibly look into ways to streamline and speed up the
code enforcement process.
Congratulated Ms. Bowman, Mr. Newlon and all the Department Heads for their work on preparation
of the budget.
Thanked Public Works Director Mark Gisclar and City Engineer Kelly Brock for acting quickly on
pedestrian and bicycle safety concerns at the intersection of Seminola Boulevard and Winter Park
Drive. He noted that it appeared that Seminole County was going to be making some improvements in
that area and he appreciated Mr. Gisclar's and Dr. Brock's efforts in bringing it to their attention.
Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4:
® Commended the Public Works Department on their part in negotiating the additional funding for the
Water Quality Improvement Projects, and passed along a compliment she had received from a resident
about the pipe bursting project.
