Planning & Zoning Commission/
Local Planning Agency
February 8, 2012
Page 6
A brief discussion ensued regarding the permits for the three sheds located on the property, the scope of
services offered by the home business, removal of the third shed, the regulations regarding operating a home
business and the information listed on her website for the home business.
In response to the Commission's question, Ms. Renee said she would be in compliance with the regulations
for operating a home business. In response to the Commission's question regarding the status of the business in
2006 when the original variance request was reviewed by the Board of Adjustment, Ms. Renee said that the shed
was being used primarily for storage of art work and miscellaneous items. She said the business evolved when she
became interested in glass. In response to the Commission's question, Ms. Renee stated she has a garage.
Mr. Meadows asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in favor of the request. No
one came forward.
Mr. Meadows asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in opposition to the request.
No one came forward.
Mr. Meadows asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to provide general comments for the
request. Mr. Richard Henderson, 127 Mark David Boulevard, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Henderson
said he is not speaking in favor or against the request. Mr. Henderson said five yards back up to the applicant's
property. He said it was his understanding that the building was going to be used for arts and crafts and Ms. Renee
would teach classes. Mr. Henderson said they have a large investment in the property. Mr. Henderson felt that Ms.
Renee did not use the structure to teach classes. Mr. Henderson estimated that the third shed was constructed
approximately three weeks ago and it is located close to the property line.
Mr. Meadows asked if the applicant wanted to make a brief closing statement. Ms. Renee felt that they
have set a precedent because the structure has been there for five years and she didn't believe the City received any
complaints about noise. She said the electric for the shed is approximately $15 a month and the electric cost for a
commercial studio would be much higher. She said she is willing to work with the City to take down buildings. She
said another temporary variance could be issued for the shed. Ms. Renee said she hoped she would not have to file
an appeal due to the expense involved.
